  1. godd one neha

  2. It is good to see a sensible article about movies rather than the usual celebrity tainted rubbish. horror movies are a safer bet commercially – cheaper to make and with high re run factor. Earlier horror movies had great music as icing on the cake – that unfortunately has been replaced by low level porn nowadays.

I think every one remembers some horror movie from their childhood where they were scared stiff – for me it was Bees Saal Baad – de Maurier’s Rebecca transformed to the hindi screen with class

    • Thank you Pritam! I actually could write pages and pages on this topic but unfortunately had a word limit :-\ I like Bees Saal Baad too :) And you are right horror films in India have sexuality as an important part and I have never understood why. It’s a legacy that will be kept alive by Ramsay brothers, no doubt!

  3. Good one Neha. But I don’t know if I will subscribe to that “horror movies will always make money” statement. I remember seeing quite a few in my teens and not much was heard of those during and after their releases. I don’t think the producers made money out of those projects. Yeah, maybe most of them do make money, but not all.

A classic horror movie is “Kohraa” (1964). There are some scenes which truly scare the hell out of you. Watch it on you tube when you get a chance.

    • Thank you Shashi! I had replied to this post a long time back but WordPress seems to have had been acting up then! I was actually talking about the fact that there are very few horror flicks that don’t give returns – because people WILL watch it even if out of sheer curiosity – not because they are good :)
And thanks for the suggestion – i am on it!
